Suscitant parfois de vives r&eacute;actions des communaut&eacute;s villageoises pr&eacute;existantes, <span>&nbsp;<\/span>elles constitu&egrave;rent d&rsquo;importants<span>&nbsp; <\/span>domaines temporels<span>&nbsp; <\/span>et les exploit&egrave;rent d&rsquo;abord en faire-valoir DIRECT, comme l&rsquo;exigeaient les <em>Coutumes<\/em> ou la <em>R&egrave;gle<\/em>. Ce fut un succ&egrave;s, sauf aux Ecouges <span>&nbsp;<\/span>dont les <span>&nbsp;<\/span>chartreux abandonn&egrave;rent la haute vall&eacute;e<span>&nbsp; <\/span>d&egrave;s 1391. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;text-align: justify\"><span>D&eacute;j&agrave;, l&rsquo;&eacute;volution &eacute;conomique et sociale transformait ces monast&egrave;res en seigneuries eccl&eacute;siastiques vivant du faire-valoir INDIRECT,<span>&nbsp; <\/span>et donc du travail d&rsquo;autrui sur leurs propres terres, dans le cadre du droit f&eacute;odal (contrats d&rsquo;albergement) ou du droit moderne ( baux &agrave; ferme et &agrave; mi-fruit).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;text-align: justify\"><span>Les malheurs du XVI&deg; si&egrave;cle impos&egrave;rent <span>&nbsp;<\/span>de gros travaux<span>&nbsp; <\/span>de restauration, &agrave; L&eacute;oncel et surtout &agrave; Bouvante. Jusqu&rsquo;&agrave; la R&eacute;volution les conflits se multipli&egrave;rent avec les villageois, <span>&nbsp;<\/span>d&eacute;fenseurs de leurs &laquo;&nbsp;<em>droits d&rsquo;usage&nbsp;<\/em>&raquo;, notamment <span>&nbsp;<\/span>en for&ecirc;t.
